You’ve gotta run and play while living
Swimming so far, and I always know I’m winning

Ate some broccoli and I was doing sit-ups
I was gonna score a goal on the green team
Always was taking time

Papa said, stop playing World of Tanks
You should be something stronger for heaven’s sake
Go do the pacer test, or ride a bike
Go run a marathon, run a marathon

Mama said, burn your calories
Rewrite your running speeds, it is one of your needs
Running victories, every day
I’m gonna exercise, gonna exercise

Don’t give them that ball and
Don’t let them score, oh…
Don’t give them that ball
Don’t give them that ball and
Don’t let them score

Pre-chorus 2:
Mama said, don’t give up
You’ll be the greatest one day
All buffed up, like a jock
And I’m gonna beat you someday

So I’ve hit homeruns and it’s gonna be a
sight to see-e-e-e

Songs by SummerReads 2019 students: Windsor Hills ES

This summer I’m teaching two SummerReads residencies, where we have a few days to write a song together. I’ve focused on the theme of space travel in our books.

Parody of Beat It based on the book Moustronaut
Moustronaut was getting ready to go
To take a trip to Mars, he was ready though
But they didn't call his name, so he had to stow
So fly it, just fly it

5-4-3-2-1 blasted off to space
Take a trip to Mars, at the red place
The lander didn't work so Moustronaut took their place
Just fly it, Moustronaut saved the day!

chorus:
Just fly it, fly it, fly it, fly it
He stowed away, he tried it
Used the ship to land on Mars
Moustronaut reaching for the stars
Just fly it

Parody of Beat It - theme of space travel
I built a rocket to go to space
I left the earth to go to another place
I was flying so high, but it took a couple days
So leave it, just leave it

They told me you don't even wanna see Mars
You will never make it cuz it's too far
But I made it anyway and I flew to the stars
I made it, just made it

chorus:
Just leave it, leave it, leave it, leave it
Going to the moon to see it
Flying a rocket in outer space
Traveling to a whole 'nother place
Just leave it

Place It (parody of Beat It by Michael Jackson, by Ms Center's class - topic: place value)

verse 1:
They told me how significant the value’s place
You need to know this, get that look off of your face!
You might fail the test, but that’s not the case
So place it, just place it!

You better think, you will need to be able
To find the digit’s value, put it on the table.
Hundreds, tens, and ones, then figure out the label
Just place it, and your gonna be rad!

Just place it, place it, place it, place it
Everybody wants to ace it!
Show them the value, choose the right place
If you mess up, you can erase
Just place it place it, just place it place it
Just place it place it, just place it place it

Decimals and fractions, they are really the same
They show you just a portion of everything.
Little dot in the spot, it will change the name
So place it, just place it

I went to buy some Jordans that were tight and nice
Saved up all my money, made a sacrifice
The decimal is precise, helped me figure out the price
So place it, but my money ran away.

Just place it, place it, place it, place it
Everybody wants to ace it!
Show them the value, choose the right place
If you mess up, you can erase
Just place it place it, just place it place it
Just place it place it, just place it place it
