Teachers Writing Parody during Covid

Teachers are working so hard to Zoom with all their students, so I hope my songwriting workshop was a bit of respite for the Anne Arundel County teachers who joined my virtual workshop on May 26. We learned about writing a parody and how it could be used for teaching. Finally we wrote our own parody of Call Me Maybe, called Teach You Maybe.

Teach You Maybe?

V1
I coughed and sneezed in your face
Hogan made us stay in place
So we stocked our liquor case
And there's still no Charmin
I'd trade my soul for wine
Even if I stand in line
And 6 feet apart is fine
And there's still no Charmin

V2:
My microphone has cut out
But you can still see my my pout
i want to scream and to shout
But you can't hear anyway

Pre- Chorus
Do I have my coffee?
Wait I need to go pee
Does my face look happy
Let's get this Google Meet Thing Poppin'!

Chorus:
Hey, I miss you, and times are crazy,
But here’s my meet code, so join me maybe?
It’s hard not being together lately, but here’s my meet code, so join me maybe?
Hey, I miss you, and times are crazy
But here’s my meet code, so join me maybe?
And I hope to see you in person maybe
But here's my meet code, so join me maybe?

V3
You have to work to get smart
Math reading science and the arts
We all have to do our part
'Cause we're in virtual school

V4:
I really miss you, my friends,
and all your pencils and pens
Can't wait 'til this whole thing ends
When will this be over?
