 Parodies at Westbrook ES 2024

This is my 12th year at Westbrook!

Ms McCabe’s class ~ topic: book Out of My Mind ~ parody of Flowers by Miley Ray Cyrus

Verse 1

Melody - she can’t talk.

She can’t write and she can’t walk.

Tries to fit in - it’s a pain.

Nobody knows what’s in her brain.

Pre-Chorus 1

I really like Ms. Katherine.  She’s my best friend.

She always stands up for me until the end.

Chorus 1

I don’t mind that I’m different

But I just want to fit in

With my very own gifts

I’m smarter than I look

Even though I can’t talk

Or I can’t walk

Yeah I can fit -it it - in

Bridge

Can love me better, I can love me better Molly.

Can love me better, I can love me better Claire.

Verse 2

I was smart.  I was bold.

Had answers - left untold.

Can not lose.  Can’t be stopped.

Never end til I reach the top.

Pre-Chorus 2

Mr. Dimming wanted to leave me.  He didn’t want me there.

He thought I wasn’t good enough to be somewhere.

Chorus

Melody can go to school.

Molly and Claire shut her out.

Cause they think she’s a fool.

She was filled with doubt.

She had cerebral palsy

But she can reach the top

Because she is smart and never gave up.

Bridge

Can love me better, I can love me better Dimming.

Can love be better than H-5 ever can.

“Weather’s Power” ~ topic: weather ~ parody of Golden Hour by JVKE

By Ms. Naatz’s Third Graders

Sky was filled with floaters,

With the light blue sky, in the grass so fine.

It was such nice weather.

My skin was feeling warm, there were no big storms.

We’re all together.

Clouds look like a feather.

Oh no, we’re losing light, now there’s a gray sky.

I saw a thousand drops of rain in the sky.

Cats and dogs pouring down.

It kept descending through the night.

I wish there could be some light blue.

Sky.

Filled with golden sun (oh no).

Let’s go outside.

Sun and rain and life (oh no).

Middle of the summer,

Running super fast, through the raining dash,

One puddle to another.

Thunderstorm on blast, make the lightning last,

Mother Nature’s power, weather’s a disaster.

It knew it was the loudest, can you even imagine?

Twisters rip off roofs in the dreadful storm.

Lightning struck your hallway.

A horrible force at your door.

Hear the thunder roar.

Blizzards blew in clouds of snow through the night,

And white covered the fields.

Light making all frost so bright.

The snow is piled seven feet up.

High.

Filled with blinding light (oh no).

Let’s go outside.

Sun and rain and life (oh no).

Cats n’ dogs fighting for attention

Oh my gosh I’m gettin’ so sick of them

Cats n’ dogs fighting for attention

Oh my gosh I’m gettin’ so sick

Sometimes all I think about is food

But it’s on the counter in the room

Tennis balls have been fakin’ me out

The cat’s been scratching my snout

Verse 1:

Usually I run outside to wee

So I never go on you or me

But today I see us playing clearly at the dog park

Run, runnin’ with me

Verse 2:

You just need some better food than this

Oh my gosh the rats they always live

All the food is now across the room

And the person who cleans up is you but

Chorus:

Sometimes all I think about is food

But it’s on the counter in the room

Tennis balls have been fakin me out

The cat’s been scratching my snout

Verse 3:

I can’t eat it, I can’t chew

I see something so crunchy and

Now I gotta munch you down

You’ll be better off in my stomach now

Coda:

The dog’s outside with me

Barking, fighting, let me be

Then I’m sitting on the table

Spot will chomp me if he’s able

Chorus: (x2)

Sometimes all I think about is food

But it’s on the counter in the room

Tennis balls have been fakin me out

The cat’s been scratching my snout
