Monday, September 12, 2022
Ann Arundel County Teacher Professional Development workshops: Helping Teachers Use Songwriting in the Classroom. June 2021
We practiced by writing our own parodies
Parody from 6/30:
Music Verse 1:
We met a rhino named Ted
He came from Mr. Phelps' head
We wrote new lyrics instead
Because we integrate...
Dance Verse 2:
We got a book from the nook
Our minds and bodies we shook
Got a creative outlook
And now I’ll demonstrate…
Pre-chorus:
Use your head to move your knees!
Integrating arts with ease
You just gotta to know the key(s)
Might be messy, try it maybe?
Chorus:
Hey we’re just like you, Arts are amazing
So integrate them, cause times are changing.
It’s hard to stay away, it’s fascinating
The creative process is so engaging
Parody from 6/29:
Verse 1:
It’s time for learning right now
Students get ready and vow
To not play YouTube or chow.
And now you’re all prepared.
Stay on topic in the chat.
Please stop playing with your cat.
Video games, don’t do that
So that you’re all prepared.
verse 2: chat rooms, internet annoyances, technical problems
The wifi’s slow as can be
Yikes another frozen screen
I wasn’t looking for this
Did I just get kicked out?
Pre-chorus: teacher needs and feelings
Our brain, was blowin.
Fed up, not worth showin.
My screen, always glowing,
I hope we make it through this, safely!
Chorus: Main Idea: Annoying daily things, but we came out stronger
Hey, Turn your camera on and mute yourself please
So here’s our lesson, Please get ready
This online learning can be a breeze
But here’s my lesson, please get ready
Parody from 6/28:
VERSE 1:
I’m logging into my meet
There are no faces to greet
This day is no easy feat
All the screens are blank
VERSE 2:
I trade my soul for a face
Inside this virtual space
I wish that we could touch base
So turn your camera on
PRE-CHORUS
this years been hella crazy
Back-ground, always changing,
time flies, been kinda hazy
What do you really look like, Jimmy? ( or: Can’t believe we actually made it!)
CHORUS:
Hey I just met you
It's January
I'm glad you logged in
Now do your work please
Hey, this is still school
I know it’s crazy
But this is graded
So do your work please.
Parody Lyrics from SummerLit! 2021
Week 4 at George Washington ES:
Sunflower parody inspired by Last Stop on Market Street:
Going to a birthday, having some fun
Pizza, hot wings, hot dog on a bun
Swimming in the pool, relaxing in the sun
Dancing in the house with everyone
Family and friends are here to play
Got a ps5 for my birthday
I am grateful for family, friends, and pet
Today is a day that I won’t forget
Ooh-ooh
This party is cool
It makes me wanna go to school
My friends say that I rule
Everyone is driving away
But I want to stay
I had a grateful night
Me and my friends had mega fun
Now the day is done
The party was a home run
Everyone is gone
I had a blessed day
My life is like a Disney movie
Sweet like a chocolate smoothie
Cuz all my friends are groovy
______________?
Levitating parody based on same book:
I was sweatin’ like crazy, maybe
Headed to the beach one day
Jumped in the ocean, so cold
Shark it bit me he’s so bold
I’m so creeped already
So get out it’s so scary
Glad it didn't bit off my face , so
When you go on vacation it will be a sensation
So if u don’t believe me anything could help me now
Crazy beach , angry waves
Ice cream cake sultry day
So grateful let’s go play
I’ll be good come what may
Aren't you the shark who tried to
Bite off my only face
Though it took some time to stop you
Im better on the safety side
