Parodies at Edgewood E.S.
Edgewood Elementary school
This is a great school, I loved working here. The topic was book genres, such as fairy tale, nonfiction, etc.
Every Time I Read (The Fairy Tale Song, based on Rolling in Deep)
Sleeping ugly is a fairy tale;
A plain looking girl at the end of a forest trail.
She’s no beauty, but she’s very kind.
She won the Prince’s heart and made him change his mind.
See what Bubba the Cowboy Prince will do,
When his evil Stepdad makes him clean up poo.
But in his finest duds, dressed up for the ball,
Miz. Lurleen fell in love and they said “Goodbye Ya’ll!”
Pre-chorus:
It starts with sadness it ends with true love
The wicked witch is defeated after all.
A magic story, a happy ending,
I can’t help reading…
Chorus:
I really have a ball,
Every time I read.
‘Bout castles, dragons, Kings, and Queens.
Read another, to me please.
Cinder Edna works all day and night.
Her evil stepsisters are wicked and uptight.
She learns something new almost every day,
Like making tuna casserole in 16 different ways.
Pre-chorus:
It starts with sadness it ends with true love
The wicked witch is defeated after all.
A magic story, a happy ending,
I can’t help reading…
Chorus:
I really have a ball,
Every time I read.
‘Bout castles, dragons, Kings, and Queens.
Read another, to me please.
(CLAP)
I read a book called Beauty and the Beast.
It was the fairy tale that we liked the least.
Love would never happen with a monster and a girl.
When they kiss at the end, it’s the worst thing in the world.
Bridge:
(Gonna defeat you, you evil Queen.)
I really have a ball.
(Gonna save the Princess, gonna marry me.)
I really have a ball.
(Gonna defeat you, you evil Queen.)
I really have a ball.
(Gonna save the Princess, gonna marry me.)
A ball, a ball, a ball.
Chorus:
I really have a ball,
Every time I read.
‘Bout castles, dragons, Kings, and Queens..
Read another, to me please.
Chorus:
I really have a ball,
Every time I read.
‘Bout castles, dragons, Kings, and Queens.
Read another, to me please.
Read it (parody of Beat It)
Once upon a time there was a girl named Snow White
She met the seven dwarves, and she was out of sight
The witch was trying to trick her in the middle of the night
So read it, just read it
One fables about a spider that was tricky and mean
The tortoise got him back, thought he was slow and green
The story was great, it was the best I’ve ever seen
So read it, and the good beat the bad
refrain:
Just read it, read it, read it, read it
And you won’t be defeated
Power of knowledge, books are just right
I’m still reading, don’t turn out the light
Read it, just read it
Read it, just read it
Read it, just read it
Read it, just read it
My momma told me I should read those books
Those tall tales, they are really off the hook
Their lies are really big but I want to take a look
So read it, just read it
Wouldn’t you want to read a book that is true
To find nonfiction’s what you have to do
Mammals, science, people, even books about the zoo
So read it, I’ll share my book with you
refrain:
Just read it, read it, read it, read it
And you won’t be defeated
Power of knowledge, books are just right
I’m still reading, don’t turn out the light
Read it, just read it
Read it, just read it
Read it, just read it
Read it, just read it
I Will Read it Forever (parody of Never Say Never)
I never read a book that was a fable
I never thought a tortoise could beat a hare
I never thought a spider could go fishing
I never dreamed I’d see a talking bear
Pre-chorus:
And there’s just no turning back
When I get my mind on track
Gonna have to turn the page
Every time I read
Chorus:
I will read it forever
It’s the best story ever
Whenever I turn the page
My brain it starts to engage
Look it up
Look it up
Look it up up up up
I’ll read it forever
Re-read it forever
Re-read it forever
Read it forever
I never thought I’d learn about Obama
I never knew how he had got elected
Until I found a new biography
That was the book that I selected
Pre-chorus:
And there’s just no turning back
When I get my mind on track
Gonna have to turn the page
Every time I read
Chorus:
I will read it forever
It’s the best story ever
Whenever I turn the page
My brain it starts to engage
Look it up
Look it up
Look it up up up up
I’ll read it forever
Rap:
I read Beauty and the Beast
And they met at a feast, yeah
(pause) This book’s a little bit fatter than me
And cooler than me,
But nobody reads it faster than me
I gotta read the best tall tale
Paul Bunyan can’t fail
Like his big blue ox
He’s cool like a fox
Pecos Bill got the will
To climb up the hill
It’s a whole bunch of lies
The book is filled (Cool stuff!)
Chorus:
I will read it forever
It’s the best story ever
Whenever I turn the page
My brain it starts to engage
Look it up
Look it up
Look it up up up up
I’ll read it forever
Re-read it forever
Re-read it forever
Read it forever
(Optional verse:)
I never read a book that was a fable
I never thought the animals were real
The tortoise and the hare had a race
Then the hare took a break in a field
