Westbrook Elementary May 2015
Westbrook Elementary students amaze once again! May 2015
This year’s songs parodied: Uptown Funk; Call Me Maybe; Shut Up and Dance with Me. (Or as Ms. O’Connell renamed it: Please Be Quiet and Dance with Me.)
One of my all time favorite places to make parodies is Westbrook Elementary school in Bethesda. The teachers, parents, and of course students are creative, fun, and always come up with something good. This year’s topic: Greek Myths. What fun!
Golden Touch (parody of Uptown Funk) - the myth of King Midas
verse 1:
This was that rich dude
That was greedy and so rude
He won’t share with others
Rollin’ ‘round in his treasure house
Dionysius gave him the golden touch
He turns his garden to gold
Now King Midas has so much
pre-chorus:
Read a myth, myth yeah
Every myth taking place long ago
Read a myth, myth yeah
They teach you lessons that you want to know
Read a myth, myth yeah
They are based on the greek’s beliefs
Read a myth, myth yeah
All those gods and goddesses, oh greeks
chorus 1:
Midas greedy for the gold (whoo)
Midas greedy for the gold (whoo)
Midas greedy for the gold (whoo)
Cause Midas ain’t ‘gon give gold to you
Cause Midas ain’t ‘gon give gold to you
Rolling around his treasure room
Dionysius laughed
Oh-Wah Wanted the golden touch
Oh-Wah Wanted the golden touch
Wanted the golden touch
Wanted the golden touch
Wanted the golden touch
Gold, gold, gold, yay
verse 2:
Stop, eat some chicken
Fill my cup, put some wine in it
Take a sip, turn to gold
King Midas at the feast
Then Niobe and Ajax
They turned into gold that night
Then Dionysius showed up
And he made everything alright
pre-chorus 2:
He likes gold (sweet gold)
King Midas was a greedy man
He likes gold (sweet gold)
Noble Dionysius not a fan
He likes gold (sweet gold)
Don’t be a really greedy man
He likes gold (sweet gold)
Was he bad ‘bout that treasure? Break it down
chorus 2:
Midas greedy for the gold (whoo)
Midas greedy for the gold (whoo)
Midas greedy for the gold (whoo)
Cause Midas ain’t ‘gon give gold to you
Cause Midas ain’t ‘gon give gold to you
Rolling around in his treasure room
Dionysius laughed
Oh-Wah Wanted the golden touch
Oh-Wah Wanted the golden touch
Wanted the golden touch
Wanted the golden touch
Wanted the golden touch
Gold, gold, gold, yay
bridge:
The King’s golden touch
The King’s golden touch
The King’s golden touch
The King’s golden touch
Come on, roll, roll on it
He’s rich, he’s got it
coda:
Gave all his money to the poor
Most beloved king
Oh-Wah Wanted the golden touch
Oh-Wah Wanted the golden touch
Wanted the golden touch
