Six classes wrote songs!
Songs: Shut Up and Dance w Me; Treat You Better; Radioactive; Just Like Fire; Cheap Thrills; Can’t Stop the Feeling
Yup, there were SIX separate classrooms of 3rd graders at Wyngate ES in Bethesda MD. We wrote songs about animal habitats:
Eat You Better - parody of “Treat You Better” - Mrs. Elgin’s class
The oceans deep and blue
Millions of fish thrive in it too
And you can tell me ‘bout a place
That’s wicked hot and dry
Believe that you could never survive
And you’re spending all this time in the really dry desert
When the ocean is cool and fine
Chorus:
I know I can eat you better in this home
And any animal is always free to roam
Tell me about the habitats
Where all my needs are at
Where the plants grow on their own
I know I can eat you better
This place is my home
I wouldn’t freeze for you
The second you say the water’s blue
I just wanna travel down to the rainforests
Monkeys climbing trees with you
Would be many things I need to be a happy tourist
I’ll go anywhere with you.
I know I can eat you better in this home
And any animal is always free to roam
Tell me about the habitats
Where all my needs are at
Where the plants grow on their own
I know I can eat you better
This place is my home
This place is my home
This place is my home
Bridge:
Give me a fly
I promise it will die
In the muddy pit of the swamp
Grass sways in the wind
Of the massive grasslands
If you see a lion you’ll get chomped
I know I can eat you better in this home
And any animal is always free to roam
Tell me about the habitats
Where all my needs are at
Where the plants grow on their own
I know I can eat you better
This place is my home
This place is my home
This place is my home

Woodlands Have Wolves And Other Animals
Nowhere to hide when a bear is not full
We should run or it will eat us whole
So just imagine, just imagine, if that would happen

Everybody’s happy in their habitats
Arctic foxes creeping up on their prey
In their habitats
Bats sleeping during the day

Just Like Habitats - parody of “Just Like Fire” - Mr. Higgins’ class
Verse 1
The oceans are filled with many different colored fish (m-m- m)
I wish we’d stop polluting in the sea to save the fish (m-m- m)
I’m swimming with motion all over the ocean
The Great White Shark causes total commotion
Swimming in the surf with the fish, that’s what I wish (m-m- m)
Pre-chorus
Save habitats habitats habitats
Save habitats habitats habitats
Chorus
Just like cheetahs running for their prey
When I see snapping turtles all through the day
Finding megalodon teeth in the bay
Watching turtle shells get turned into clay
Just like lobsters crawling in the sea
Imma see a bear climb up a tree
Rhinos charging at ya what you gonna say
We hope for clean habitats every day
Just like wildlife
V. 2
Wild monkeys eat bananas while swinging through the vines (m-m- m)
See I would rather sleep in forests than the Arctic most of the time (m-m- m)
Monkeys live in the forests no matter the weather
Arctics are so cold I found a frozen feather
We have gotta worry about invasive spe-cies (uh oh)
Chorus Tag
